Description: The forests of the NSW south coast are shooting green new leaves, but the future of many communities here is uncertain. The residents of Kiah, an isolated hamlet near the NSW-Victorian border in Australia, live on the edge of vast tracts of eucalyptus. Bushfires destroyed most of the town's 73 houses during Black Summer of 2019/20. And18 months on, only a handful of dwellings are being rebuilt - many are still living in sheds and caravans. But with climate change making many types of disaster more frequent and severe, the question of whether people should rebuild at all hangs in the air. The Australia Talks National Survey 2021 revealed that Australians in rural areas are the least likely to say that climate change is a problem for them personally or Australia generally.
